The group consisted of 5 students from the areas of Graphic/Web Design, Graphic Design, Audio Production, Video Production and Web Design. Of these participants, sites currently now are Dribbble, Behance, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook and personal web pages. One student strictly used personal connections to obtain employment. Participants employment goals ranged from self-employment to continuing education to speci c types of companies and speci c company names. When asked about current employment the resounding sentiment was, “Everyone is always looking for employment,” freelancing, student jobs, etc.
“I hear there are a lot of workshops available”“I get emails from career services““Those emails don’t really apply to me“
When asked “If there was a website where you could showcase your portfolio and nd jobs…” the response was nearly unanimously positive with only one decenter who was adamant about approaching employers personally. Concerns about such a site centered around phishing. Participants wanted to make sure that the site was exclusive and monitored, but public enough to attract many employers. When asked about networking with other students and alumni, the group was positive and enthusiastic about having a more e cient alternative to trying to do this task in person.
